Toronto Raptors Could Have Trade Interest In David West

David West

Some say the Toronto Raptors, who have struggled in recent weeks, could use a veteran presence on the roster who is known to command respect. The Indiana Pacers might have a player that fits that mold in David West who is allegedly on the trade block.

Might the two be a perfect fit? That’s the feeling of Basketball Insiders’ Alex Kennedy who says the Toronto Raptors could be a team to watch if the Pacers do decide to pull the trigger on a David West trade.

Even better for DeMar DeRozan‘s Raptors? The price would be relatively cheap.

I don’t think Indiana will get a ton for West since he’s nearing the end of his career and could always leave as a free agent, but getting something is better than losing him for nothing. I think the Raptors are an interesting team to keep an eye on if West becomes available.

Combined with the fact that West is aging, his free agent status will keep his trade cost down meaning the Raptors could potentially bring in a much needed power forward and not give up much to do so.

Of course, they won’t be the only team searching for a veteran forward so it’s unlikely any potential deal would get done before the final hours of the NBA’s February trade deadline.
