Cleveland Browns, Kyle Shanahan To Split

Kyle Shanahan’s time with the Cleveland Browns has come to an end, just one season after one of the brightest offensive minded coaches in the league signed on with the franchise.

Shanahan, who was brought in after spending the previous few seasons with the Washington Redskins was thought by some to be the savior for the Browns struggling offense, though not even he could turn around their woeful passing attack.

Making the situation even more odd though was the fact that Kyle Shanahan wasn’t fired by the Cleveland Browns, however, reportedly asked for and was granted his release.

While he may not have been thrilled with what was going in Cleveland (understandable), it’s unlikely he would have requested waivers on himself which likely suggests he may have a role with his father, Mike Shanahan upcoming.

The elder Shanahan, who Kyle worked under during their time together with the Washington Redskins has reportedly drawn interest from multiple teams this offseason. The San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills have all been linked to the former head coach in some capacity, so it’s possible Kyle Shanahan may be following his father to his new destination.
