You’d think the Super Bowl jersey of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson would cost the same as Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, right? They’re both star signal callers. They’re both two of the NFL’s elite players. But Nike Shop, for whatever reason has decided to mark Wilson’s jersey up (or Brady’s down) as they’re being sold at totally different price points.
@nikestore why is the Russell Wilson jersey more than the Tom Brady jersey? pic.twitter.com/2JTqYffgyR

For those that can’t see the above embedded tweet, Russell Wilson’s jersey is being sold for $170 dollars while Tom Brady’s is fifteen dollars cheaper at $155 dollars. It’s not a huge margin by any stretch, though it is a bit odd to see two comparable players (at least in terms of their popularity) having their jerseys be priced differently especially come the Super Bowl.
One possible explanation for Wilson’s jersey being priced higher is the inclusion of Nike’s trademark “Flywire” technology, something the Seattle Seahawks jersey includes while the Patriots opt for a more traditional style. Either way, the pricing will certainly create some headlines as stories are looked for in the two (relatively boring) weeks leading up to Super Bowl XLIX.
