San Francisco 49ers Interested In Ryan Mathews

Ryan Mathews

It appears the San Diego Chargers franchise might not be the only thing leaving Southern California in the somewhat near future as running back Ryan Mathews might do the same.

A free agent, Mathews, while at times playing very well, has never lived up to his hype out of Fresno State, much of that do to lingering injury issues. Still, when healthy he’s proven to be a very solid NFL running back and the San Francisco 49ers may want to scoop him up.

That’s only if they lose Frank Gore in free agency though, this according to Bleacher Report.

It’s already been stated the San Francisco 49ers do want to bring Frank Gore back, though probably at a much cheaper price than his desired $4 million dollars annually. If they’re going to give that type of coin to a player, it’s likely to be Ryan Mathews who would split time with Carlos Hyde.

Such a move would prove to be a solid addition for San Francisco assuming Mathews could remain on the field, though as he’s proven time and time again, that’s a struggle for the talented though oft-injured football star.
