Don’t expect Grand Theft Auto 6 to be hitting your Playstation 4 or XBox 1 in the near future, but that doesn’t mean the video game isn’t in development. That’s the word from Tech Radar, who says a Rockstar source confirmed GTA 6 is in the works.
What does that mean exactly? It sounds as if its in the early stages of production, more or less.
The source also revealed that preliminary work has begun on Grand Theft Auto 6, but said a location had not yet been settled on.
It’s not unusual that Rockstar would begin laying the early foundations for its next Grand Theft Auto so soon – It’s been more than two years since the initial release of GTA 5.
In addition, the GTA source said Rockstar originally planned to have Grant Theft Auto 6 take place in Japan, however scraped the idea once they realized how difficult it would be to create a video game not based on a US city.
Currently, it’s believed that Take-Two owns the copyrights for Grand Theft Auto video games set in Japan and ‘Sin City’ (aka Las Vegas) though, that’s probably just a small sample of what they actually own.
Still – Rockstar making a Grand Theft Auto game set in a modern day Las Vegas? Yes please.
