Prince Confirmed Charlie Murphy’s Basketball Story From Chappelle Show

Few skits have ever taken on the life of the Charlie Murphy basketball story from the infamous Dave Chappelle Show. But it couldn’t have been true, right? Eddie’s brother was just making TV. Or maybe it was more than that, because Samuel L. Jackson said Prince confirmed Charlie Murphy’s basketball story.

Jackson took to Instagram where he showed off a picture of himself at a Los Angeles Lakers game which included a caption suggesting the Prince basketball story involving Charlie Murphy, Eddie Murphy and The New Power Generation was indeed legit.

While it’s always been known that Prince loved basketball – both watching and playing – the idea of such took on a life of its own after the sketch appeared on Dave’s Comedy Central show.

Many assumed it was nothing more than an attempt at being funny, especially the whole pancake dinner, but it appears Murphy was indeed telling the truth.

That also makes you wonder about the other stories, like the one involving Rick James and how truthful they are.

In fairness to Charlie Murphy, being the brother of Eddie Murphy likely allowed you to see and experience a lot of unique and crazy things during the 80’s and early 1990’s.

Just when you thought the Prince basketball story couldn’t get any more awesome.
