So you want to be a ball boy at a professional tennis match huh? Not only do you have to wear relatively short shorts, you also have to be ready to take a 121 mph serve to your nuts. Sadly, one ball boy wasn’t prepared for such and felt the painful consequences of such.
It all took place at the Australian Open when Feliciano López unleashed a massive serve, blowing it by his opponent who seemingly couldn’t decide if the ball was going to land in play or out. Instead, he opted to let the tennis ball go by and it just so happened to hit the ball boy standing at the end of the court. We’re not talking in the shoulder or gut though, this was a direct and flush hit to the nuts.
Upon the immediate impact, the ball boy was clearly in some pain though tried to play it off and smiled while he went to pick up the ball. I’m going to assume it was a tennis ball he picked up, not his own balls considering they were hit so hard they probably fell off and were bouncing around on the court.
Safe to say I’ll be checking “tennis ball boy” off my to-do list after watching this.
