With Rajon Rondo now unlikely to return to the Dallas Mavericks, the former Boston Celtics point guard will be looking for a home this offseason.
NBA rumors have suggested the former Kentucky star will entertain the idea of playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, but what does the basketball franchise think about such? Is LA even interested in Rajon Rondo? What do the NBA rumors say?
Well, yes and no. They’re interested, but only want to sign him at a discounted rate. That’s the word from Bleacher Report who reports Rondo is indeed a Lakers free agent target but they won’t pay him what he feels he’s worth.
What can be said is that as much as Rondo’s sobering stint in Dallas might have given Buss and Kupchak pause, they aren’t completely turned off the way so many in NBA circles are.
Perhaps the only more polarizing basketball player in the NBA from a personality standpoint is that of Kobe Bryant, though both he and Rondo are decent friends and have previously talked highly of each other.
Still, you have to wonder how well they’d play together, especially if Bryant isn’t happy with Rondo’s attitude.
There’s plenty to come before such a move would happen and NBA rumors will be swinging left and right, but it doesn’t sound very outlandish currently.
